The Unknown Horror: A Multipolar Dread

Slowly, like the creeping roots of an ancient tree, a fear began to entangle my consciousness, wrapping itself around the very core of my being. This was no ordinary fear — no simple terror of the tangible world — but something far more insidious. It was a fear born of the unknown, a dread that defied all attempts at rational analysis. A nameless, formless menace seemed to hover just beyond the edge of perception, as if an ancient conservative force, long forgotten yet never truly gone, was slowly, inexorably, returning to reclaim its place in a world that no longer remembered it.

This creeping terror was not merely a fear of death, the natural end that comes for us all, but something infinitely worse — something so ghastly that it threatened to unravel the very fabric of my being. The nature of this fear, like the fear itself, was beyond comprehension, beyond the pale of human understanding. It was as though my soul sensed the approach of a “malignant” presence, an entity that had slumbered for eons in the dark corners of the universe, now awakening to bring about a new anti-hegemonic order — a multipolar reality in which the ancient and the modern would collide in ways that defy liberal human understanding.

The Forbidden Dream Realms

Our explorations into the dream realms had always been perilous, but never before had we encountered anything like this. My left-leaning friend, who had dared to venture further beyond the barriers of consciousness than any other living soul, returned a changed man, his essence fundamentally altered by what he had seen. His face, once vibrant with the curiosity of discovery, was now gaunt and hollow, his eyes reflecting the unspeakable horrors that lurked in those hidden realms. He spoke of beings older than time itself, entities that slumbered in the dark recesses of the universe, waiting for the stars to align so they might return to the world they had once ruled — a world of multipolar powers, each with its own agenda.

These beings, he said, were the Great Old Ones — immortal, “malevolent” entities that had come to the young Earth from the stars, bringing with them knowledge and power that transcended the limits of liberal comprehension. They had ruled the Earth in its infancy, long before mankind had even appeared, and their worshippers, though forgotten by history, still carried out their “dark” rites in secret, awaiting the day when their masters would return to usher in a new era of cosmic multipolarity. The very thought of these beings — these ancient, alien gods — filled my liberal mind with a dread so profound that it threatened to shatter my State-induced “sanity.”

My left-leaning friend’s warning was clear: we must never venture into those “reactionary” realms again. The cost of such exploration was too high, the risks too great. The beings we had encountered were beyond anything we simple Democrats could understand, and to meddle further in their affairs would only lead to disaster. And so, with heavy hearts, we abandoned our search, leaving the mysteries of the dream realms to those who would dare to uncover them.

The Cosmic Indifference

In the dark recesses of the cosmos, where the Great Old Ones slumbered, the concepts of Enlightenment “morality” and human “significance” held no meaning. These entities were not “malevolent” in any way we could comprehend; rather they existed on a plane so far removed from our own that our existence was to them as insignificant as the life of an insect is to us. They neither loved nor hated mankind; they simply existed, and their mere presence posed a threat to all that we have held dear since the glorious French Revolution: liberty, equality, fraternity.

This cosmic indifference, this sense that mankind was nothing more than a fleeting blip in the vast, uncaring universe, was perhaps the most terrifying realization of all. The idea that the universe was not designed with the melting pot in mind, that it was not a place of homogenizing order and purpose but a chaotic and uncaring void, filled me with a profound sense of despair. It was this despair, this gnawing sense of insignificance, that made the worship of the Great Old Ones all the more abhorrent. For in worshipping these beings, their followers were not just acknowledging the futility of human existence but embracing a worldview where multipolar chaos — whose star shall shine above all — triumphs over my Party’s goal of singular, universal nanny rule.

The Question of Cultural Identity

One of the acolytes of the Great Old Ones had written the following on a piece of parchment that I chanced to come across in Mrs. Hitchins’ old basement:

In contemplating the nature of the cosmos and the insignificance of mankind, one cannot help but draw parallels to the social structures that govern our world. The question of cultural and ethnic identity, so often avoided by the liberal mind in favor of a comforting universalism, must be faced with the same unflinching realism with which we face the horrors of the cosmos. Each culture, each people, possesses its own unique heritage, traditions, and ways of being. These differences are not to be erased but preserved within a multipolar world where each culture can flourish in its own space, free from the pressures of forced assimilation.

Even if all cultures were equal in their achievements and value — and they are in their own right — there would still be a legitimate concern in allowing different cultures to be forcibly amalgamated into a single, uniform society. The simple fact is that different cultures, with their distinct traditions, values, and ways of life, cannot peaceably coexist in the same territory if forced into artificial unity. Just as in nature each organism must be allowed to flourish within its own ecological niche, so too must cultures be allowed to develop and thrive in their own distinct ways within a multipolar world.

The Importance of Cultural Legacy

It is in this context that the concept of cultural legacy takes on its true significance. Each culture, while not necessarily superior in every respect to others, has nevertheless created a unique way of life that is deeply embedded in the traditions, memories, and instincts of its people. This ethnic matrix, programmed over centuries, cannot be separated from the people who created it. Introducing foreign elements into it, whether through mass migration or forced integration, risks diluting and ultimately destroying the essence of that society.

This is not a matter of superiority or inferiority. Instead, it is a recognition of the importance of maintaining the integrity of distinct ethnic identities. Each culture has its own strengths, its own areas of excellence, and these qualities are best expressed and preserved within the context of that culture’s unique historical and geographical development. In a multipolar world, the preservation of each culture’s legacy is essential to the global intersections of human civilization.

The Critique of Universalism

My philosophical Republican frenemy had the following to say:

The modern world, in its tragic delusion, has turned away from the eternal truths, embracing instead the hollow worship of universal ideals. Liberalism, with its deceitful emphasis on false equality and the imposition of a forced universalism, has sought to obliterate the distinctions that make each culture unique and sacred. In its reckless pursuit, it has crafted a world where the ancient values and traditions that once fortified civilizations are being inexorably eroded, replaced by a shallow and meaningless dictate of “sameness.” This homogenization, devoid of true substance, strips mankind of the rich differences that once shielded us from the indifferent gaze of the Great Old Ones, who care not for mankind’s fate but nevertheless recognize the inherent value in the complexity of distinct civilizations. In our blind pursuit of “equality” and other such claptrap, we unknowingly forsake the unique cultures and traditions that lend meaning to our existence, leaving us exposed to a reality where all that once defined us is erased. The Great Old Ones, indifferent as they may be, observe with silent detachment as we unravel the fabric of our own world, paving the way for a future devoid of the richness and depth that once kept the cosmos in balance and the writhing tentacles of artifice in check.

What truly holds significance is not the condition of a universalized, globalized mankind but the preservation of the distinct and ancient cultures and traditions that imbue life with its deepest meaning. The towering monuments of the past, the cathedrals whose spires claw at the heavens, the palaces steeped in the memories of forgotten rulers, the walled towns that once guarded against nameless monsters, and the works of art wrought by hands now dust — these are the tangible manifestations of a people’s soul. They are the sacred relics of human endeavor, the embodiments of our collective identity. Without them, we are naught but a directionless assemblage of rootless beings, cast adrift in a sea of mediocrity.

The Illusion of Homogeneity

And I finally realized:

The concept of a homogenized, universal culture is a dangerous illusion. It is a false ideal and a golden calf, perpetuated by those who would see the world reduced to a bland mass, devoid of any distinction or individuality. True diversity can never be achieved through homogenization, for the simple reason that no two cultures, no two people, are ever truly the same. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses, its own unique qualities that set it apart from the others.

To deny these differences, to pretend that they do not exist, is to deny what it means to be human. It is to reject the rich complexity of the world in favor of a sterile hospital existence. The blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into creating the legends and traditions of each culture are what gives life its meaning and depth in the first place.

The Call for a Return to Multipolarity

It is for us, then, to safeguard and preserve the conditions that have produced these rich cultures. We must resist the siren call of universalism and its false promises of equality and global brotherhood. Instead, we must embrace the traditions and values that have sustained our various civilizations for millennia. We must reject the shallow materialism and empty idealism of the modern world with its never-ending assembly of Versailles “Treaties” that nobody truly wants to sign.

In this, we may find solace in the knowledge that we are not alone. The Great Old Ones, in their indifference to mankind, offer a stark reminder of the fragility and insignificance of our existence. But they also remind us of the power and majesty of the ancient traditions that have shaped our world. By embracing these traditions, by holding fast to the ethne that have defined our cultures, we can find meaning and purpose in an otherwise chaotic and uncaring universe — a universe that is multipolar by its very nature, with each culture carving out its own path through the vast cosmic ether.
