Excellent piece. Europe's crisis isn't only bad leadership but the endgame of sovereignty hollowed out by "integration" that now serves America's imperatives. Trump’s realignment merely formalizes the deal through which America sells weapons and energy while Brussels foots the bill at a time when while de-industrialization, energy suicide and NATO dependency sap Europe’s agency. The alternative of strategic autonomy within a multipolar order, normalizing relations with Russia, securing affordable energy and rebuilding industry is still the clear alternative. Europe can still choose civilization over vassalage but only by saying no to Atlanticist obedience and yes to its own interests.
It's an oddity that while America is pursuing the goal of making America great again (MAGA) and thus disengaging partially from the Ukraine conflict which it itself created in 2008 and 2014, Europe is doing the exact opposite. It's bellicosity is a sign that it is a vassal to an America which perhaps no longer exists, one that was full of hubris after the fall of the Soviet Union.

The people who ultimately foot the bill for the goings on in Ukraine, and struggle to hear their homes, or fill their refrigerators, are already sick to the back teeth of listening to their leaders incoherent nonsense from their suicidal net zero zealotry, to Putins tanks rolling across Europe, and all the while reminding us of our duty to take massive amounts of immigrants into countries that are not able to provide adequate housing, healthcare, etc for their own citizens before a single person is given shelter. A lot are resisting, and more will join them, but it is the sizeable amount of people who have tuned out of politics, and haven’t voted in decades, in every country, that is a sleeping giant. One economic collapse could be the catalyst that sees real change in one or two countries. And trigger a domino effect implosion of the EU project. If so, we will get one shot at ensuring we are not found wanting in bringing the fight to those who seek to stifle our very thoughts. Local level unity must be fostered now. When all else fails, it’s what will truly matter. There is no voting our way out of this mess. God bless you all.
That it is, however, I remain optimistic. Zelenskyy recently asking for 120 billion per year to finance ongoing conflict, which has no favourable outcome in sight for his country, MUST have caught the eye of even the most jaded working man. It’s a completely unsustainable, black hole for our economic system, and now turned into a money making machine for the US, scam. Things will have to become a lot worse for us plebs before they improve, in what will be an unrecognisable Europe from the one we are watching crumble in real time right now. But improve they will. I won’t see the new order of things evolve fully, or even partially, in my lifetime. We are talking avmboit decades of damage inflicted here. It won’t be undone in a generation or two, but I’m certain I’ll see the end of the EU. We have been living through the beginning of the end for a decade or two. Printing money and bank bailouts will only take the economic systems so far, and the US debt is the elephant in the room in the west.
